Our Story

Connecting cultures through the art of textile craftsmanship

Who We Are

Sugam Home Textiles was founded by Rajul Sharma, who grew up in Rajasthan. A land of vibrant colours, intricate craftsmanship, and enduring traditions- Rajasthan is a beauty to behold. Rajul's childhood in Jaipur, the Pink City, was filled with memories of wandering through lively bazaars overflowing with hand-printed fabrics, and watching artisans at the Amber Fort carefully stamp wooden blocks onto cotton. Each impression told a tale of living history. These experiences shaped her deep admiration for India's textile heritage.

The name "Sugam" comes from Sanskrit and Hindi, meaning "effortless" or "graceful." It reflects the brand's philosophy: bringing warm and soulful textiles into homes with natural ease.

Through Sugam, Rajul gives a platform to the artistry of women artisans and small-scale manufacturers in rural Rajasthan and connects them with homes across the Netherlands. Each piece is handcrafted, sustainably made, and unique, using techniques like traditional hand block printing on cotton and chanderi fabrics.

Rajul carefully curates every design to complement the clean, minimalist aesthetic of Dutch interiors, while preserving the depth, colour, and emotion of Indian craftsmanship.

At its heart, Sugam is more than a textile brand: it is a bridge between cultures, a celebration of heritage, and a reminder that true beauty lies in the human touch.

Our Mission

At Sugam Home Textiles, our mission is to connect cultures by honouring the art of Indian craftsmanship and seamlessly letting it decorate and add colour to Dutch homes. Inspired by the vibrant traditions of Rajasthan and the timeless skill of artisans, we seek to give heritage a new place in contemporary living.

Through our curated collections such as cushions, hand bags, pouches, and home textiles crafted with techniques like block printing, weaving, and embroidery, we not only celebrate India's artistry but also create meaningful bridges between tradition and modern design.

By working directly with artisan communities in India, we support livelihoods that have been sustained for generations, while offering Dutch families sustainable, soulful textiles that carry stories of culture, care, and connection.

"Every purchase supports traditional artisans and brings authentic Indian craftsmanship into your Dutch home."
